Soda ash is sodium carbonate. Sodium carbonate is an inorganic compound with the molecular formula of Na2CO3 and molecular weight of 105.99, but it belongs to salt rather than alkali. Also known as soda or soda ash in international trade. It is an important inorganic chemical raw material, mainly used in the production of flat glass, glass products and ceramic glazes. It is also widely used in domestic washing, acid neutralization and food processing.
There is no difference in the chemical formula between light soda ash and heavy soda ash. There are mainly two kinds of soda ash products, namely heavy soda ash and light soda ash. Differences between light soda ash and heavy soda ash:
1. Differences in physical properties
Properties of heavy soda ash: white granular anhydrous substance, easily soluble in water, can absorb CO2 and water when exposed to air at normal temperature, release heat, and gradually turn into NaHCO3 and agglomerate. Generally, the density of light soda ash is 500-600kg/m3, and that of heavy soda ash is 1000-1200kg/m3.
2. Price difference
Heavy soda ash is about 100-200 yuan higher than light soda ash.
3. Differences in production methods:
Light soda ash is mainly produced by ammonia soda method, which uses raw salt and limestone as raw materials to produce light soda ash by chemical synthesis, and heavy soda ash is produced by solid phase water method.
Heavy soda ash is mainly produced by natural soda method, which uses natural soda as raw material to produce heavy soda ash by evaporation or carbonization.
